Musical Theater Dance Class

Classes start on January 30th, 2025

     Kids will become familiar with the structure/routine of a dance class and learn what tools we can use to become stronger dancers. They will get the chance to dance to songs of different genres from some of their favorite BROADWAY musicals!
January 30 - April 10, 2025 (10 classes, NO CLASS MARCH 27)
Age Group: 9-16 years old (8 year old with experience)

Where: Boones Station Hall at the Severna Park Community Center

Days:   Thursdays

Time:  6:30-8:00pm

Final Performance for Family and Friends:  April 10 during class

What will your dancer gain from this class:
  • Develop an individual stretch/warm up routine that works for them.
  • Learn how to effectively multitask as a musical theater performer and clean dances/fix corrections on their own.
  • Get accustomed to the expectations that come along with taking a dance class and become familiar with the structure. 
  • Become knowledgeable of the five elements of dance using the acronym B.A.S.T.E. (Body, Action, Space, Time, Energy) to apply during class and in any future dance/musical theater endeavors.
  • Gain confidence in their ability to tackle new/challenging choreography in addition to strengthening their overall skills as dancers.

Suggested Dance Attire:
*  Dancers will wear a shirt of their choice (preferably form-fitting) 
*  Leggings or dance tights (any color) with biker shorts
*  Leotards are encouraged, not required for class, (however they will need to wear them for the performance so they can easily change shirts between dances).
*  Tap and jazz shoes (black for tap, black or skin color for jazz) should be brought to each class

NOTE:  If kids need help acquiring dance clothes or shoes, we have some loaners or can find some that have been donated.
